Who am I?

So, I have a small pickup truck and I am looking to help you move some things you might need to move.

I was told once when I offered my aunt the use of my truck that “You don’t need to own a truck, you just need to know someone who does.”

Well, you don’t know someone with a truck? Well I am now that guy you now know who owns a truck.

I have been doing this for a couple years now and I do it for a few different reasons. I like to be as honest as possible with everyone I know, and the main one is that I like having a truck for my own use, you never know exactly when you need to use it, but when you don’t have one there are plenty of times where you say to yourself “I would totally ____ if I had a truck”, and doing this helps me keep up on maintenance, insurance and registration, so having a second vehicle isn’t a strain on me financially.

However, maybe it’s leftover from the days long gone by when I was a Boy Scout, but I like to help people. I know how annoying it can be to try to rent a truck to move something small that isn’t very big, the costs can really get up there for what should be a small task. Also, trying to get a buddy or two together to help you can be really hard sometimes, especially if you are new to the area and haven’t made a group of friends, or you might just have some lame friends. So with me, you get my truck, but you also get me!

There are plenty of people who don’t even have a driver’s license, so that makes a truck rental even more difficult to get done. I take care of that, I am here to help you get done what you need to get done.

I work a regular full time job but I have some flexibility to help you do almost anything you need to do. I do have some personal or professional things that are needed of me, so I do need to say no on occasion or schedule around them.

This is my general availability.

Any time you want! Except Thurs nights 5pm to 10pm, that’s my bowling league night.  R.I.P. Lanes & Games Cambridge.

I can help you move a couch, bed, table, manure, dirt, gravel, haul stuff to the dump somewhere stuff from Ikea or an appliance from Sears dent and ding or pick up lumber etc from home depot or anything else you need to move. You can either hire me just for the truck and labor, or for just my labor if you already have a truck and just need some help, or you just need help moving something from the garage into the kitchen.

Every job is different and price is dependent on expected time for completion, along with travel time to and from in combination with mileage for the job as well.

I base almost everything on an estimate of $50/hr for my time, and the truck, but there is a 1/hr minimum charge.

Here are a couple things I am less than enthusiastic about doing, and therefore my price goes up in these circumstances to $60/hr, but it is not solely limited to these circumstances either.

1- Sleep sofas that involve more than a 1st floor or basement or need to go up or down twisty stairs.

2- King size mattress and boxspring(non-split).

3- Anything higher than 2nd floor without an elevator or narrow stairways with a lot of twists and turns.

So while those are things I am not interested in moving, I will help you move them, but it comes at the slightly higher price than normal.

Lastly, I am not a full service moving company, I am a solo guy who is willing to help you move stuff, key word being help. I am the equivalent of your friend or brother who is helping you move something. So I am not really the right person to call if you have a full 2-4+ room apartment to move, but if you have a single bedroom or stuff that will fit in 1-2 trips, then I am your guy and it’s worth it for both of us.

Cost is going to vary on how far, and what you want me to do, I am happy to give you an estimate if you tell me what you are looking for and when you are looking for it to be done. I do have a minimum though, I am not going to do anything for less than $30, it’s usually just not worth my time to bother for less than that.

Anything within 495 is fair game, even outside could be, or up to NH, but just know, time and distance round trip for me(home to home) is what is taken into account with the pricing.

The truck I use is a small pickup with a 6 foot bed, this will work for most furniture, and I have tarps, blankets and tie downs for everything to keep things safe and prevent breakage and keep things as clean as possible. I also carry a set of tools with me that will handle almost any small assembly or dis-assembly job as well as things to hold some doors open.

I am also available for other handyman stuff around the house or yard, whether you need help putting together IKEA furniture or small projects that are too small for a contractor to bother handling.

Feel free to email me or text me any time and I will respond as soon as I can, however if you are going to call me, please do it between 9am and 8pm.
