A Little Bit About Me and My Truck

So, welcome to my site, here’s a little bit about me to start off and get to know me.

My name is Ned and my truck is a great 1998 Mazda B3000. You may not know exactly what that truck is, but it is  Ford Ranger, it just has a different name and was sold under a different brand.

My truck’s name is Buster, and he is a rockstar. He handles almost anything thrown at it and he does it with a rugged toughness to get the job done.

So, I started doing this for people a couple years ago, the inspiration came from my aunt while I was talking to her. She is a great woman and has always been good to me and my siblings and sharing the things her and her family have, and I offered to help her move anything if she ever needed it instead of needing to hire someone, or deal with store delivery. She thanked me and then said the following which stuck with me:

“You really don’t need to own a truck, just know someone who does.”

I realized this was true, and I was that guy for many people that I know, but then I started thinking about all the people who don’t know someone with a truck, what do they do?

They either do nothing, or they go rent a truck. As a person who has rented trucks in the past, I realize how expensive they can be. Sure, the price of only $19.99/day on the side of the truck looks like a great deal, but what that doesn’t include is the cost of gas, insurance, and the real killer, mileage, which can be as high as $1.50/mile.

But how often do you buy one or two items from someplace that doesn’t have delivery options?

  • Craigslist?
  • Freecycle?
  • Antique Store?
  • Consignment Shop?
  • Relative?
  • Yard Sale?
  • Estate Sale?

Or maybe you bought something from a large retailer and they have it in stock, but they can’t get it delivered to you for 2-3 weeks and you want it now?

Is the cost of a rental truck going to work for you? Do you need an extra set of hands to get the item into your house?

That’s where I come in and I can help, both physically and financially.

I am that person who can help you move it in, and I am also going to cost you less than hiring a full moving company, or renting a truck way bigger than you need for just 1 or 2 items.

I don’t actually do this to make some sort of crazy money, my real goal is twofold, the first of which is to make sure I can defray some of the cost of keeping my truck insured, registered and properly working without it being a strain on my finances since it isn’t my main means of transportation. However, I also know how hard it can be for some people to have the means to move items around and keep it affordable. Is that free or cheap couch from CL or Freecycle really worth it once you need to pay over $100 to get it home?

So that’s me, and I am here to help. You can see the “About Me” page for more information.
